The Rise of Magus

Yep, we're back. Again.

The Rise of Magus

Postby Aurora on Mon May 11, 2009 7:59 pm

Hello, all. I know people aren't posting here very regularly, but in case someone stops by I thought I'd share what I've been working on: a platformer game based on the character Magus from Chrono Trigger.

I created the game in Game Maker 7 over the course of 10 months (in my free time).

You can check out the site I set up for the game here: http://www.silentellipsis.com/riseofmagus

Or download the game directly.

Let me know what you think, and if you like it feel free to share it with people.

Peace.

Haha...well tell you what, give me sprites of yourself that are 32x32 pixels in a sufficient number of poses and I'll make a mod of my own game featuring Magnum instead of Magus.

Interesting. Since I'm still on dialup waiting for the file, and am kinda bored and willing to take up more time for no reason, What kind of control scheme is this? Is it strictly limited to keyboard/mouse control, are are you able to define different mappings and controllers?

There likely is a way to set up the game for controller use but I haven't explored it. The game is controlled via keyboard, almost exclusively.

The basic controls are:

Left/Right - Move left and right
Up - Jump
Shift - Hold to "glide" while moving
A - Basic attack
Z - Throw a fireball
Esc - Pause
Spacebar - Progress Dialogue
Enter - Accept Selection/Skip Story

And more buttons will start being used as you acquire more abilities.
